LDC Honors Designers and Garden Club - Boston Gardens Gardening Travel Massachusetts

LDC Honors Designers and Garden Club Frances Wheeler The Landscape Design Council (LDC) of Massachusetts recently announced that Sally McGuire Muspratt won the 2007 Landscape Design Council Award for Excellence, in recognition of outstanding civic accomplishment. The Country Lane Garden Club of Chelmsford and its member, landscape designer Sue Spicer, won the 2007 Landscape Design Council Award Certificate for outstanding accomplishment in the field of landscape design. " For many years, Sally Muspratt has generously shared her expertise with the community at large through her educational and design work. Sue Spicer and the Country Lane Garden Club have contributed time, talent, and resources to creating a public space that educates visitors about historic and native plants," said Joan W. Schofield, immediate past LDC chairman, who presented the awards at the annual meeting of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts (GCFM). Sally McGuire Muspratt of Sally Muspratt Landscape Design, Inc. (www. smmgardens.com), is a landscape designer who consults on civic plantings, designs residential and public gardens, lectures, and writes. She chairs the Civic Development Committee of the GCFM and she is a member of the Evening Garden Club of West Roxbury. Muspratt and her work have won many awards, including the Massachusetts Horticultural Society Award for Urban Design (2001 for Roslindale Gardens), a silver medal from the MHS for outstanding horticultural community service in New England (2002), the GCFM Presidential Citation (2005 for the creation of four workshops exploring problems clubs encounter when undertaking public landscaping), NCG Award No. 68 (2005 for videos of workshops), and West Roxbury Main Streets Volunteer of the Year (2006 for her public improvement work on Centre Street).
