Engineered wood floor [ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Flooring Discussion Board ] [ FAQ ] Posted by MJ on June 29, 19101 at 05:45:29: Is a glued down (over concrete slab) engineered wood floor a compromise between a laminate floor and a real wood floor? I have read a lot of posts about lamniate, but not as much about engineered floors. Any opinions as to the best brand, coating etc. on engineered wood? Do floating engineered floors have the same noise problems as laminates? I really want to get rid of my carpets, and I have porcelain tile in many places in my house and I love it, but I did't want to put tile in the living room and bedrooms. I have well trained dog, but she will probably have accidents as she gets older, so I want something durable. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

solid wood vs. engineered flooring
solid wood vs. engineered flooring [ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Flooring Discussion Board ] [ FAQ ] Posted by cgarrett101 on May 25, 19102 at 14:37:06: O. K. - my brain is overwhelmed......... in a new home which currently has carpet we want to install wood floors. The carpet is installed over concrete, at least it is on the first floor. We would leave the marble tile in the kitchen and bathrooms. It is a nice home so we would like to do a quality job- should we use solid or engineered wood flooring? We have 3 kids, 1 dog and 1 cat. We don't particularly like the bevels between the boards on the engineered flooring- can we get it without bevels? Please let me know what the differences are in both long term durability (can it be refinshed) as well as appearance. Thanks in advance.

Minnesota Exteriors: Exterior Siding, Windows, Doors, Gutters, Shutters, Aluminum Railings and more.
ENGINEERED WOOD SIDING Engineered wood products are compared to fiber cement products; in fact they are considered an alternative because they are typically more economical. Composed of wood chips and resin, NOT GLUE, the product is very durable and stable. Engineered wood is also treated with Zinc Borate, an additive which helps preserve the product and prevent mold. Backed by a 30 year warranty, with the first 7 years covering a 100% product and labor, it has among the best warranties in the industry. With lengths of 16" in both siding and trim, which results in less seams, the product is more pleasing to the eye when finished. Equally appealing is a more defined wood grain, matching not only in siding, but trim accessories also. Siding and trim are available in both pre-primed and pre-finished. Smart Side; made in Minnesota, for Minnesota... without a doubt an excellent alternative.
