Screaming Eagles to retire Fleury’s No. 29 The Cape Breton Post SYDNEY — Marc-Andre Fleury’s impact on the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles organization will soon be immortalized, as the team’s former netminder will have his No. 29 raised to the rafters. Fleury’s jersey will be retired prior to Cape Breton’s game against the Lewiston Maineiacs, Jan. 25. Having Fleury’s jersey retired is a project that’s been in the works now for some time, according to Screaming Eagles president Paul MacDonald. But with the NHL all-star break next weekend and Fleury recovering from an ankle injury, the stars have finally aligned. Fleury was selected first overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, becoming only the second goaltender in NHL history to be taken first overall. A native of Sorel, Que. , he played parts of four seasons with the Screaming Eagles after being taken in the first round of the 2000 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft.
